Encourage your family to spend time together by creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Ensure there is space for everyone; younger children can have beanbags or cushions. Rugs can be added to make the area cosy and cover old tiles. Choose comfortable furniture; a sofa and armchairs. Old sofas can be covered in throws. Cushions can be added for comfort and to add colour. Use the furniture to block out a cosy seating area with a coffee table or small side tables
If the room is small, add mirrors to reflect the room, adding a sense of space. Mirrors can also be used to reflect natural light into the room. Choose wall colour carefully. White is crisp but a touch of colour can add warmth while maintaining a modern, stylish look. Light fittings can make a huge difference to the ambiance of a room. Dimmer lights are useful when entertaining, creating a warm atmosphere. Use chandaliers over a coffee table for an extravagant look.
Art work can add a focal point and give a splash of colour to an ordinary wall. Paintings draw the eye away from a dull view. Remember to remove clutter. Storage boxes and shelves are a must for living space. Tidy toys and books away for a sleek look.
